In Exodus, as well as in 1 Kings/2 Chronicles, we read about the glory of The LORD filling the tabernacle/temple. The glory of The LORD manifests as a bright cloud. Two passages which show us this are quoted below.
"…So Moses finished the work. Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of The LORD filled the tabernacle." [Ex 40:33-34] "Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of The LORD filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of The LORD, because the glory of The LORD had filled The LORD's house" [2 Ch 7:1-2]
The tabernacle was set apart because the glory of The LORD abode upon it; it was sanctified, holy. The LORD says this to Moses in Exodus 29, saying,
"And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory." [Ex 29:43]
So the entirety of the tabernacle was sanctified by the LORD’s glory. It ought to be the same way in our lives. For Jesus, “who being the radiance of [The Father’s] glory” [Heb 1:3] has come to “dwell in [our] hearts by faith.” [Eph 3:17] And God “hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” [2 Cor 4:6]
And so, like the tabernacle, our lives have sanctified by The Father’s glory. For us, that glory is Jesus Christ Himself, who is the brightness of God’s glory. Therefore, our lives are set apart unto The LORD that He might use them as He chooses. As Paul writes,
"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." [1 Cor 6:20]
CONCLUSION
Just like the tabernacle and temple were holy unto The LORD because He chose to place His glory there, so too are we. We have been chosen by God The Father to salvation through Jesus Christ out Lord and therefore we are holy unto Him. The Father has placed the very radiance of His glory into our hearts through The Spirit of Christ, that is, The Holy Spirit, and because He has shown us such mercy and grace, as Paul exhorts, “present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service” [Rom 12:1] and again, Peter writes, “but as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, you will be holy; for I am holy.” [1 Pe 1:15-16]
